What should I do to prepare for a pest control treatment?
Before a treatment, it’s important to clean and declutter the area. Please pick up any loose items and cover any open food. As a spray method is used for application, we recommend that children and those with asthma or sensitivities to chemicals are not present at the time of treatment and return once the area is dry.
Before we arrive:
- Please ensure easy access is provided to treat any areas involved in your service.
- Please clean any areas that will be subject to pest treatment; this can include, but is not limited to: Kitchen Cupboards, Laundry, Living Spaces, etc.
- If mopping floors, please ensure they are dry in time for your service.
When we arrive:
- Please ensure children are not in the area of treatment and return once the treatment has dried.
- Remove any pets from the active area until the treatment is completed and dry.
- Ensure open food is covered or put away.
What should I do after a service?
Avoid mopping within 15 cm of floor edges for approximately 1 week. Avoid cleaning or painting walls for 4 weeks, as this could remove or cover our treatment. Externally, avoid hosing and pressure cleaning treated areas for as long as practically possible.
How long does a pest control treatment take?
The length of a treatment varies depending on the type of pest and the size of the property. On average, treatments take between 1-2 hours, and the treatment area will be dry within a few hours. Please keep children and pets away until the treatment has dried.
Do we have to leave the house while you spray?
Only if you have health problems, suffer from asthma, or are sensitive to smells. We ask that children and pets be kept clear of treated areas while they are wet. A treatment will be dry within 1-2 hours. We do recommend covering fish, reptile tanks, and bird cages.
Are chemicals harmful to people and/or pets?
We use only environmentally friendly, low-toxicity chemicals. Once dry, the products are safe.
How long does the treatment take?
Generally, a pest spray will take 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the house or commercial property.
Do you spray inside the house or just outside?
We spray internally and externally unless a different plan is discussed.
How long until the spray dries?
This can take between 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the weather conditions, i.e., Humidity and Temperature. When it is dry, it is okay to put back moved items against walls and allow children and pets back inside.
What happens if it rains on the day of treatment?
Services may still be able to continue in wet weather. If it is raining during the time of service, the external treatment may be postponed. If rain has passed and the area is sufficiently dry, the external service can still go ahead.
I have just had my house treated; why am I still seeing pests?
The effects of pest control are not instant and can take a few weeks for full pest eradication. During this period, you may see more dead pests; this is normal. Please allow 14 days for the product to take effect.
A bad infestation of ants may require a non-repellent chemical treatment—one that allows a slow release to enable transfer to other ants to kill off the colony. Ant activity may increase after a service before elimination.
Does a General Pest Spray/Treatment cover Termites?
General Pest Treatments have NO effect on termites. Termites are treated with entirely different chemicals. A specialised inspection (in accordance with Australian Standard 3660) conducted by a licensed technician is required.
